NBA Draft Recall-Southwest DivisionPosted: March 10, 2011
The following story is not real:
Uh-oh! David Stern just announced that all current players have to be returned to the teams that drafted them. As everybody scrambles for the next flight to meet their new/old team, let’s see just how good each team would be. As long as the player has played a game this season, he is on the roster for the team that drafted him, even if he’s a free agent right now.
Today is the Southwest Division.
Here are the teams in the division:
Spurs have the best record in the league. Mavericks are right behind them. Rockets and Hornets are not looking so good. Grizzlies are an up and coming team. Now…what do they look like after the recall?
Mavericks: Jason Kidd, Etan Thomas, Josh Howard, Maurice Ager, Byron Mullens, and Solomon Alabi.
Spurs: Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Luis Scola, John Salmons, Leandro Barbosa, Beno Udrih, Ian Mahinmi, Tiago Splitter, Goran Dragic, George Hill, DeJuan Blair, and James Anderson.
Grizzlies: Mike Bibby, Shane Battier, Matt Barnes, Drew Gooden, Kendrick Perkins, Marcus Banks, Hakim Warrick, Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley, Donte Green, Kevin Love, Sam Young, DeMarre Carroll, Hasheem Thabeet, Greivis Vasquez, Dominique Jones, and Xavier Henry.
Hornets: Kobe Bryant, Baron Davis, Jamaal Magloire, David West, J.R. Smith, Brandon Bass, Chris Paul, Hilton Armstrong, Julian Wright, Darrell Arthur, Darren Collison, Cole Aldrich.
Rockets: Eduardo Najera, Joel Przybilla, Jason Collins, Richard Jefferson, Yao Ming, Luther Head, Steve Novak, Rudy Gay, Aaron Brooks, Nicolas Batum, Patrick Patterson.
Look at the Hornets. Game over man. Kobe? Chris? David? Ya got inside, outside, and everything in between. And the poor Mavs. Only 6 players! They must have been trading picks for players. The Grizzlies have a nice group of guys too. A lineup of Conley, Barnes, Battier, Love and Perkins sounds lovely. More on the defensive side though. Rockets have Yao, but his foot is all messed up so…the Rockets are not that good of a team. They do the have Gay. I really like Batum. Brooks is a really quick guard who can score and hit the three. Spurs are the only team here that can seriously challenge the Hornets but just barely. In fact, I would like those two rosters go up against each other in real life. Should be very entertaining.
Next time we head over to the East Conference and the Central Division. Here are the previous divisions in case you missed them:
