NBA Draft Recall–Central DivisionPosted: March 31, 2011
The following story is not real:
Uh-oh! David Stern just announced that all current players have to be returned to the teams that drafted them. As everybody scrambles for the next flight to meet their new/old team, let’s see just how good each team would be. As long as the player has played a game this season, he is on the roster for the team that drafted him, even if he’s a free agent right now.
Today is the Central Division
Here are the teams in the division:
Bulls are the best in the East. It looks like Derrick Rose will win the MVP award and the Bulls are looking really good for winning it all. The rest of the division…not so much. Cavaliers and Pistons are at the bottom of the East. Bucks and Pacers are barely fighting for a playoff spot. But how good would the teams be in the recall? Let’s find out.
Bulls: Ron Artest, Elton Brand, Roger Mason, Matt Bonner, Kirk Hinrich, Chris Duhon, Ben Gordon, Rodney Carney, LaMarcus Aldridge, Aaron Gray, Joakim Noah, Sonny Weems, Derrick Rose, Taj Gibson, James Johnson, and Kevin Saraphin.
Cavaliers: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Andre Miller, Jamal Crawford, Brendan Haywood, DeSagana Diop, Carlos Boozer, Jason Kapono, LeBron James, Daniel Gibson, Shannon Brown, J.J. Hickson, Danny Green, and Christian Eyenga.
Pacers: Erick Dampier, Al Harrington, James Jones, Danny Granger, Shawne Williams, Jerryd Bayless, A.J. Price, Tyler Hansbrough, and Paul George.
Pistons: Grant Hill, Theo Ratliff, Brian Cardinal, Mehmet Okur, Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Delfino, Darko Milicic, Amir Johnson, Jason Maxiell, Arron Afflalo, Rodney Stuckey, D.J. White, Chase Budinger, DeJuan Summers, Austin Daye, and Greg Monroe.
Bucks: Dirk Nowitzki, Dan Gadzuric, Keith Bogans, T.J. Ford, Ersan Ilyasova, Andrew Bogut, Ramon Sessions, Yi Jianlian, Luc Mbah a Moute, Jodie Meeks, Brandon Jennings, and Larry Sanders.
The Bulls would still be a powerful force. Rose, Gordon, Artest, Aldridge, and Noah as the starting five? Perfect combination of defense and offense. Next would have to be the Cavs. Miller, Crawford, James, Boozer, and Ilgauskas? Pretty great team. In fact, they may be better than the Bulls. Pacers would be a pretty average team. Still, they have some nice pieces. Pistons have quite a few defensive players (Hill, Ratliff, Prince, Stuckey) but no real true PG. Bucks actually are going to be a really good team but I don’t think they would be able to beat the other great teams we’ve covered so far in our new NBA. And they won’t be known for defense.
